Introduction
The State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB) serves as the primary investigative unit of the Vigilance Department. It was initially established in June 1967 as the Special Inquiry Agency (SIA) to investigate corruption-related complaints referred by the State Government. Over time, it has expanded significantly, and today, it operates with a widespread and effective network across the State.
In 1978, the Special Inquiry Agency was renamed the State Vigilance Bureau, and in February 2023, it was further rebranded as the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau. The Bureau is currently headed by a Director General, an IPS officer holding the rank of DGP/ADGP. The Director is supported by Officers of the ranks of IG/DIG, SPs, DSPs, and other officers and officials of varying ranks.
