    Introduction

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) serves as the primary investigative unit of the Vigilance Department. It was initially established in June 1967 as the Special Inquiry Agency (SIA) to investigate corruption-related complaints referred by the State Government. Over time, it has expanded significantly, and today, it operates with a widespread and effective network across the State.

In 1978, the Special Inquiry Agency was renamed the State Vigilance Bureau, and in February 2023, it was further rebranded as the Anti-Corruption Bureau. The Bureau is currently headed by a Director General, an IPS officer holding the rank of DGP/ADGP. The Director is supported by Officers of the ranks of IG/DIG, SPs, DSPs, and other officers and officials of varying ranks.
